Our History Many health centers have found it difficult to successfully navigate through the capital development process. Health centers can run into roadblocks in determining the appropriate buildings for their needs. Often, identifying funds to finance the project, assembling the best project team and completing the building project while continuing to offer services is a daunting challenge. Capital Link is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting community health centers in accessing capital for building and equipment projects. Capital Link provides extensive technical assistance to health centers throughout the capital development process. From financial and market feasibility reviews to business plan and proposal development, Capital Link assists health centers in strengthening their abilities to plan and carry out successful capital projects. Capital Link was established in 1998 to assist health centers nationally in gaining access to capital. Capital Link manages this nationwide effort and was awarded a major multi-year contract with the Health Resources and Services Administration to deliver a variety of capital assistance services to federally-funded health centers across the country. Since 1993 (before the formal organization of Capital Link), assistance work was provided to health centers through CHCCF and Capital Link’s other founding members. Capital Link was founded by the National Association of Community Health Centers, Community Health Center Capital Fund, Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, Illinois Primary Health Care Association, North Carolina Primary Health Care Association and Texas Association of Community Health Centers to help health centers successfully complete all stages of a building project. Capital Link is a result of an initiative to provide general and one-on-one services to community health centers seeking access to up-front capital planning and financing resource information. In addition to services provided to community health centers, Capital Link has working relationships with local, state and federal agencies and organizations, which provide direct services to community health centers. In order to advance its mission, Capital Link works in partnership with primary care associations, consultants and other entities interested in improving access to capital for health centers. Capital Link receives funding and support from the Bureau of Primary Health Care and Tides Center in California. |
