Mobile healthcare, also referred to as mobile health, mobile clinics, and mobile health units (MHUs), is an alternative, flexible, and cost-effective approach to bringing a wide range of healthcare services—such as medical, dental, behavioral, vision, and even mammography—directly to underserved and hard-to-reach patients. This report, developed with support from HRSA, reviews the basics of mobile healthcare and provides tools and guidance on where to begin in designing a mobile health unit. (Released 2025)
